Atiamuri pumice is characterized by its relatively light weight, and hardness making it extremely desirable for use in concrete applications.
Block Manufacture
Both our 1-7mm and 0 -10mm pumice are used in the manufacture of concrete blocks for the New Zealand market.
The addition of pumice in block manufacture allows for a product that’s significantly lighter than a pure concrete block giving benefits in production, transport and emplacement at site.
Sumps & Soak Holes / Pre-Cast Drainage Units
The addition of pumice to the manufacture of pre-cast sumps and sock holes both decreases the weight, and in certain forms as required
Pumice-Crete
Emplaced concrete mixed with pumice allows for a significantly lighter product once emplaced.
Atiamuri pumice was specified during 2002/03 by Firth Industries, Auckland for the construction of a large roof, poured ‘in-situ’ for the Auckland Buddhist Society.
